Our first two Barred Rocks were called ChicaDee, and ChicaEEE
We stick with food names, so we remember their purpose… We have had Chicken Noodle and Chicken Nugget (aka Noodles and Nugs), Chicken Dumpling, Popcorn Chicken, Chicken n Waffles, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Buffalo Chicken (both Blue Plymouth Rocks), Chicken Salad (Sally for short), Chicken Sandwich (Sandy for short), and our newest girls are Truffle Chicken and Chicken Taco (both black Australorps)!
Barred Rocks: MooMoo, Bean, and Eliza. Starlight green eggers: Coco, Vanilla, Angelica. Easter eggers: Chewpecca, Ostrich, ChipMonk, and Peggy. Silkies: Ginger, Tandoori, Nugget, Elvis, Toto, Zazu, Emu. And we’ve got a big rooster named Dorothy. (Thought he was a girl!)
I had a turkey hen named Fernando. By the time I knew for sure she was a she, I was tired of changing her name.
Too many hens and pullets to name, only a few got named (Boss Lady, Ally, Sweetie – all passed away now). All my roosters get names, Red Boy – RIR, Skunk – black Australorp, Cuckoo- Cuckoo Marans, Buff- buff Orpington, Baby Boy – black Australorp/Amberlink hatched at home, and Brahm – buff Brahma. My boy Jokester died suddenly from inhaling feed dust in front of me, he laughed every time you dropped something. He was eating, sneezed, turned purple and fell dead. I was trying a new organic feed that looked like a bag of dust when i scooped it out, I went back to regular feed. He was the only rooster to attack me too and we had a love/hate relationship. I also have 2 RIR and a EE, all 5 months trying to rehome. I decided to keep my light Brahma 4 month old cockerel but haven’t decided on his name.
My 2 RIR’s are Henny Penny & Jenny, 2 Leghorns are Pocahontas ( Poke) & Gertie Birdie. 2 Buff Brahmas Abby & Gabby. 2 Barred Rocks Bella & Ruby. I just got 4 Golden Bovans so until I decide on names they are “The Littles”
My daughter named one of our laying hens “RePECKa” she is named after her aunt Rebecca with a chicken twist 😉
I have a very beautiful Salmon Faverolles named Sophia LorHen.
